I took this photo in July of 2014 during a trip between Flagstaff and Phoenix, capturing a moment at  what I believe is a rest stop along the way. The following year, the area was devastated by wildfires,

leaving behind a landscape that was hard to recognize. For the past few years, I’ve returned to this spot,  reflecting on the loss and mourning what once thrived there. However, during my last visit, I was filled with hope as I noticed the remnants of the fire beginning to fade, making way for vibrant new growth that is reclaiming the land. This photo serves as a powerful reminder of the beauty that once existed, as well as the profound impact of the devastation.

Now, I see it as a testament to resilience. The fire, while destructive, has also acted as a catalyst for renewal. It heats the soil and awakens dormant seeds, encouraging them to sprout. It enriches the earth with

nutrients and clears away toxins, making way for new life to flourish.

In many ways, it is easy for me to relate to this transformation . Just as the land has been reshaped by fire, I too have emerged stronger from my own challenges. Fire has not consumed me, it has forged me into a more resilient version of myself.
